Adverse effects

 

As with absolutely all beauty treatments, many things can go wrong. Adverse effects are rare, but still possible.

 

Adverse effects can include the following.

  • Injection site reaction (swelling, pain, redness, itching, ecchymosis)

  • Hypersensitivity reaction

  • Infection

  • Surface irregularities and nodules

  • Occlusion of the blood vessel

  • Postponed adverse effects (several weeks/months later - biofilms, foreign body granuloma, dyspigmentation scarring).

Contraindications

 

Contraindications for performing this treatment are the following.

  • Known hypersensitivity to hyaluronic preparations or topical anesthetic.

  • Active infection on the site of injection (e.g. herpes simplex) or active lesions (e.g. psoriasis).

  • Coagulation disorders and taking blood thinners.

  • Taking alcohol, aspirin, and nonsteroidal anti-flammatory drugs (NSAIDs) or herbal supplements known to affect coagulation and hemostasis within previous 24 hours.

  • Tendency towards the development of hypertrophic scars.

  • Presence of autoimmune diseases (even within close family members), persons who are on autoimmune therapy.

  • Pregnancy and breast-feeding.

  • Diabetes mellitus (uncontrolled).

  • Heart disease.

  • Epilepsy.

  • The site of the application previously treated with similar substances with permanent or semi-permanent preparations.

  • Hepatitis and HIV infections - the treatment can be done with increased caution.

  • PMU & Botox - the treatment can be done 1 month after the mentioned treatments.

  • Chemotherapy - the treatment can be done 3 months after the chemotherapy.
